天蛾也叫做斯芬克斯蛾，來自蛾家族。約有 1,450 種類的天蛾，體型中等至大，可持續地快速飛行。
一些天蛾如蜂鳥天蛾，能夠停到半空中吸食花蜜，有時候甚至被誤認為是蜂鳥。
天蛾是其中飛行速度最快的昆蟲，能夠以每小時五十公里（每小時三十英里）的速度飛行。
 
The sphingidae belongs to the moth family. It’s commonly known as the hawk moth, sphinx moth or hornworm comprising about 1,450 species. It is moderate to large in size and is distinguished among moths for its rapid, sustained flying ability.
Some hawk moths, like the hummingbird hawk moths, hover in mid-air as they feed on nectar of flowers and are sometimes mistaken for hummingbirds.
Sphingids are some of the fastest flying insects which are capable of flying at a speed of 50 km/h (30 miles per hour).
